Darragh Kenny

Darragh Kenny currently sits at number 8 on the Longines FEI World Rankings as the highest ranked Irish show jumping athlete.  Kenny began his career working with North Run Farm under the tutelage of Missy Clark and John Brennan. With their help, Kenny arrived to the top level of the sport, with top placings in prestigious grand prix classes up and down the East Coast. In September 2012, Kenny made the difficult decision to leave North Run Farm and form his own Oakland Ventures, LLC. Since its inception, Oakland Stables has become one of the most successful competition barns, offering high-performance sales horses and an elite training program.

Kenny represented Ireland in the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ , and captured a monumental victory as a member of the Irish show jumping team, winning the Aga Khan Trophy and the 2015 Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™ Jumping CSIO5*.

In recent years, Kenny has continued to produce exceptional results internationally. He boasts an impressive resume of countless accolades with two prestigious 5* grand prix wins in the summer of 2019, which include the LGCT Grand Prix of Chantilly and the €500,000 Rolex Grand Prix in Knokke Hippique aboard Balou du Reventon.

He concluded a successful 2019 with impressive runner-up positions in the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Verona CSI5*-W and the IJRC Rolex Top 10 Final aboard Romeo 88 while also finishing second in the €1.25 Million Longines Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix Final with Balou du Reventon.

Kevin Babington

Kevin Babington is an Irish International show jumping rider and trainer. Originally from County Tipperary, Kevin has successfully taken part in many major competitions, including the Olympics, World Equestrian Games, and European Championships. Now based in the Pennsylvania and Florida in the United States, Kevin specializes in the training and sales of high quality competition horses.

Kevin has devoted a large part of his business to sales, where he likes to focus on buying and selling horses that he thinks will be ideal for the US market. He has several partners in Ireland, Germany, Great Britain and elsewhere, who are always keeping an eye out for suitable mounts. Though most horses are imported for immediate sale, Kevin also recognizes talent when he sees it, and will invest his time to develop horses further through training and competition before he markets them for sale. Kevin always has a strong inventory of sale horses suitable for both amateurs and professionals alike. It is through the sales business that he found quite a few of his top mounts, and campaigned them to the point of great success while finding valuable investors to help acquire them for himself. After a fall in September, 2019 left Kevin paralyzed, the show jumping world rallied around him with a collective strength that spoke to the deep respect that he has earned among his many colleagues and friends in equestrian sport. Kevin has since returned to coaching duties, and his condition continues to improve.

The next year, Towell returned to Shanghai with Kenny, where they claimed another victory for the Paris Panthers.

Our Selection Process

At The Palm Beach Auction we sourced top riders, trainers and producers of show jumpers, beginning with 500 prospects in five different countries. With the help of our incredible selection committee we started tracking down the horse’s progress and narrowed it down to 80 horses that fit our standards.

After months of work, the initial group was reduced to a pre-selection of 32. This group met at Peelbergen, where they all performed a jumping test. Every horse underwent a thorough clinical examination with x-rays and after analyzing the jumping capabilities, our selectors chose the Top15 horses that are now the stars of our auction.
